Who sends these messages
In short: Custral, LLC. Messages about your own Custral account, sent only to you.
These messages are sent by Custral, LLC. They are messages about the Custral account you created: sign-in codes, and Stella’s replies to texts you send. They are not marketing, and Custral does not sell or share your phone number. This page covers the messages Custral sends to you. Messages that a Custral customer sends to their own contacts using the product are covered by that customer’s own terms and consent, as described in our Terms of Service.
What we send
In short: Sign-in codes, and Stella's replies to your texts. Nothing else.
If you enable phone verification, Custral sends a one-time code by SMS when you sign in, so we can confirm it is really you. A message looks like this:
- Your Custral one time code is 293-291
If you turn on Text Stella, you can text questions to Stella, Custral’s assistant, at +1 (833) 222-2571 and Stella replies with answers from your own workspace. We text you a code to confirm your number, and Stella only ever replies to a message you sent. Messages look like this:
- Your Custral code to text Stella is 482913. Didn’t ask for this? Ignore it.
- Custral: Stella wants to make 1 change. Approve or deny in the Custral app. Nothing happens until you do.
Message frequency depends on how often you sign in and how often you text Stella. We do not send promotional, marketing, or recurring messages to either number.
How you opt in
In short: Inside Custral, at Settings → Security → Phone verification (SMS).
Phone verification is off by default. You turn it on yourself, while signed in to Custral:
- Go to Settings → Security.
- Switch on Phone verification (SMS).
- Enter your mobile number.
- Read the disclosure shown directly above the button, then tap Send code.
- Enter the code we text you to confirm the number is yours.
The disclosure shown above that button reads, in full:
By tapping Send code you agree to receive sign-in verification codes from Custral at this number. Message frequency depends on your sign-in activity. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. See our Terms and Privacy Policy.
To text Stella, go to Settings → Security → Text Stella, tap Set up, enter your mobile number, and tick the consent box below it. The box starts unticked, and ticking it is optional: Text Stella is an extra feature, and everything else in Custral works the same without it. The box reads, in full:
Yes, text me at this number. I agree to receive texts from Custral, including Stella’s replies to my messages. Optional. Everything else in Custral works without it.
Directly beneath it, above the Send code button, the screen reads:
US and Canadian numbers only. Message frequency depends on your use. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. See our Terms and Privacy Policy.
Send code stays unavailable until the box is ticked. We then text a one-time code, and the number is enrolled only after it is entered in Custral.
No one is enrolled without completing those steps, and a number is only stored after the texted code is entered correctly. A Text Stella number must be confirmed again every 30 days.
How to stop them
In short: Reply STOP, or switch it off in Settings → Security.
Reply STOP to any message to opt out. Reply HELP for help. You can also switch Phone verification (SMS) off, or turn off Text Stella, at Settings → Security at any time, which removes your number.
Opting out never locks you out of Custral. You can still sign in with your password, an authenticator app, or a recovery code.
