The short version

The friendly summary. It doesn’t replace the full policy below, but it’s the gist.

  • Custral texts you sign-in verification codes, only if you turn on phone verification.
  • You opt in inside Custral, at Settings → Security, by entering your number and tapping Send code.
  • Message frequency depends on your sign-in activity. Message and data rates may apply.
  • Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help. Opting out never locks you out of Custral.

Who sends these messages

In short

Custral, LLC. The account-security messages for your own Custral account.

These messages are sent by Custral, LLC. They are account-security messages for the Custral account you created. They are not marketing, and Custral does not sell or share your phone number. This page covers the messages Custral sends to you. Messages that a Custral customer sends to their own contacts using the product are covered by that customer’s own terms and consent, as described in our Terms of Service.

02

What we send

In short

One-time verification codes when you sign in. Nothing else.

If you enable phone verification, Custral sends a one-time code by SMS when you sign in, so we can confirm it is really you. A message looks like this:

  • Your Custral one time code is 293-291

Message frequency depends on how often you sign in. We do not send promotional, marketing, or recurring messages to this number.

03

How you opt in

In short

Inside Custral, at Settings → Security → Phone verification (SMS).

Phone verification is off by default. You turn it on yourself, while signed in to Custral:

  1. Go to Settings → Security.
  2. Switch on Phone verification (SMS).
  3. Enter your mobile number.
  4. Read the disclosure shown directly above the button, then tap Send code.
  5. Enter the code we text you to confirm the number is yours.

The disclosure shown above that button reads, in full:

By tapping Send code you agree to receive sign-in verification codes from Custral at this number. Message frequency depends on your sign-in activity. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. See our Terms and Privacy Policy.

No one is enrolled without completing those steps, and a number is only stored after the texted code is entered correctly.

04

How to stop them

In short

Reply STOP, or switch phone verification off in Settings → Security.

Reply STOP to any message to opt out. Reply HELP for help. You can also switch Phone verification (SMS) off at Settings → Security at any time, which removes your number.

Opting out never locks you out of Custral. You can still sign in with your password, an authenticator app, or a recovery code.

05

Rates and carriers

In short

Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan. Delivery is not guaranteed. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Your number is handled as described in our Privacy Policy, and is used for account security only.
